To mark the auspicious occasion of Christmas, a grand celebration was held at BUC College on 21st December 2022 under the competent stewardship of the officiating Principal Dr. Ashwani kansra.

Dr. Vinita Roy and Mr. Pardeep commenced the programme by invoking the blessings of the Almighty with a prayer.It was ensued by various performances comprising hymns and praises of the Lord.
Prof. Neeraj Kumar Sharma, Staff secretary, Conducted the stage very well.
Prof.Rajive McMullen expatiated on the birth,life and teachings of Jesus Christ.The occasion was graced by Dr.Derick Engles, Secretary, BUCCA, Mrs.Kansra , Mr. Neeraj Kansra and his wife .
All the teaching and non-teaching staff members whole heartedly participated in the programme with a religious fervour.Towards the culmination of the programme, Christmas gifts were given away to all the staff members of the college. The programme was followed by a lunch.

A Farewell Party was organised on the eve of retirement of Dr Sukhdeep Kaur Ghuman (Associate Professor of English) at Baring Union Christian College (BUCC), Batala to bid adieu to madam. On Dr Sukhdeep's arrival on the gate She was welcomed by presenting the garlands by Baring staff and Dr. Ashwani Kansra (Officiating Principal).
The function in Conference Hall of the college started with a prayer to almighty by Dr. Vanita Rai and Prof. Neeraj Kumar Sharma, Incharge, Department of Philosophy hosted the function as a newly appointed Staff Secretary of the college. He welcomed the guests and shared with them the biodata of Dr Ghuman, and introduced her family members including her daughter, son in law and sister. They were welcomed by presenting bouquets by Dr Jagwinder Kaur, Dr Ritu Pandhi Nayyar, Prof LP Singh and Dr Amita respectively.
While speaking as the Head PG Department of English, Prof Pawan Kumar congratulated Dr Ghuman on the successful completion of her service, and wished her best of luck for the beginning of new chapter in her life.
Prof. Savita shared her long association with Dr. Ghuman, firstly as a student of her and then as a colleague. She recreated for all the classroom ambience of Dr Ghuman and shared her own experience as a student of the madam. She also discussed the positive and the shaping role the Madam played in her life to lead her to success.
Prof. Parminderjit Kaur, President, Local unit PCCTU, expressed her gratitude to Dr Ghuman for sharing a strong bond of association with her that started over union’s platform. She also praised her, for her conviction and courageous nature.
Prof. Paul Rajive McMullen, Incharge, Department of History shared his joys and association with her family. Further, he stated that they shared a common interest of reading new books and visiting exotic lands together.
Dr Rajni Bala, Incharge Department of Sociology, expressed her views of the enriching company of Dr Ghuman which she enjoyed being her neighbour in college’s residential colony. She cherished some of her past memories with the madam.
Prof. SS Kahlon a former Head, Department of Philosophy of the college also congratulated Dr Ghuman on the completion of her tenure in sound state of health and further, he encouraged her to start new inning with more energy and exuberance, by reciting few couplets also.
Officiating Principal Dr Ashwani Kansra presided over the function and congratulated her on the successful completion of her service and remembered her long association with madam as colleague in the Baring college. He handed over the cheque of gratuity to the Madam along with Mr Samson, Accountant BUCC, on the behalf of the management.
While speaking on the occasion, Dr Sukhdeep Ghuman appreciated the efforts made by the staff and college management to make her retirement a memorable experience. While expressing herself, she also sang a Punjabi song on the occasion. She wished for the college to scale new heights.
Later Dr. BK Sharma (Former Staff Secretary) thanked all present including retired teachers and lauded the role of all the staff members who made various arrangements for the farewell party. He also talked about his association with the madam in the department

Honorable Dr.Ashwani Kansara officiating Principal was the Chief Guest with library committee ( Dr Rajni Bala Convenior, Dr Jatinder Pal Singh, Dr. Lalit Kumar, Ms. Mandeep Sandhu) M/s Ravi Sahit was the Publisher who display the different kinds of books for the wellbeing of students as well as staff of the college. He has arranged the two stall of books one stall related to general subject like Punjabi, English, physics chemistry , history, computer literature etc another was related to Competitive examinations.
The students show their excitement for the Book Fair as heavy discounts were given to the students.
All the Head of the Departments and staff members visited the library and appreciated the event. They said it’s a good and authentic step for students as well as college wellbeing.
In Books Fair college bought books worth Rs 70000/- for library as per staff recommendation.

Under the able and committed guidance of our worthy principal Dr Ashwani Kansra a seminar on "Capability building on Entrepreneurship and how to build a start up" was organised on 16th November 2022. Mr. kovid Chugh(FCA), Director of Grant Thornton Bharat Gurugram ,addressed 150 students of B.Com and BCA and shared his ideas on development of entrepreneurial skills amongst students. The entire seminar was co-ordinated under the leadership of Dr. Jagvinder Cheema ,Associate Professor, stage secretaries Ms. Aru Malhotra and Ms. Alka Sekhri(Assistant professors of PG department of Commerce), faculty of commerce and computer science department. The seminar was enriching for the students and it ended with an interactive session between the resource person and the students and faculty present for the session.

Glimpses of retirement cum farewell party of Dr. RK Gulati

Dr. Rajinder Gulati, an Associate Professor of Economics, in Baring Union Christian College Batala, retired on 30/09/2022 after dedicated and excellent service of more than three decades. On this occasion,he was extended a farewell party in Principal' office. Dr. Vanita Roy led all to a prayer for wellbeing of Dr. Gulati and his family. Dr. B.K.Sharma, the staff secretary expressed his deep sense of gratitude to Dr. Gulati for being a very decent human being and a very cooperative colleague. The officiating Principal
Dr. Ashwani Kansara recalled and appreciated Dr.Gulati's contribution to the Computer Department, Economics Department, Time Table Committee and applauded him for his services as a very active member of various committees. He emphasized that Dr. Gulati's work and sincerity will always be remembered by the college, staff members and students.
Dr.Gulati expressed his gratitude to the college management, all the Principals with whom he had the pleasure to work,and especially Dr.Kansara, for being a very sincere colleague and friend. He was all praise for his fellow teachers for making his job a pleasant experience that he would cherish throughout his life. He wished them best of luck and prayed to the Almighty for the greater progress of the college and success of the students.

 
 

To celebrate National Nutrition Month, Science Society and Red Ribbon club of BUC College

Organised an Extension Lecture and Health on Platter Contest under the committed and able leadership of Principal Dr. Ashwani Kansra and the guidance of teachers-in-charge Mrs. Mandeep Bedi and Dr. Amita. Dr. Arashdeep Singh, Assistant professor, Dept of Food Science and Technology, PAU, Ludhiana was the resource person. He delivered a lecture on Relevance of Nutrition in Present Scenario. Students participated with great zeal and enthusiasm in Health on Platter contest. The winners of this contest were awarded by the society.

DEEPSHIKHA RELEASED BY SDM, BATALA 13-07-2022

 

Deepshikha - a very prestigious annual college magazine of BUC College (BUCC) Batala, was released today, by the Chief Guest, Esteemed Madam Shayari Bhandari, SDM Batala.
Dr. Ashwani Kansara, Officiating Principal, BUCC, Dr. B K Sharma Editor- in- Chief, sectional staff editors of the magazine and faculty members, welcomed the chief guest.
While speaking on the occasion Dr B K Sharma apprised the Chief Guest of the history and significance of the trilingual college magazine in the career of students and teachers. Deepshikha is an excellent anthology of articles, poems, creative writings, short stories etc.The published photographs of various academic and co-curricular activities of the college such as sports, youth festival, department functions, seminars / webinars make it fascinating and worth reading.

Dr. Ashwani Kansra has been acting as an officiating Principal of BUC College Batala w.e.f 08/06/2022.

 

Dr. Ashwani Kansra, the Senior Most Faculty and HOD of Commerce has been acting as Officiating Principal of the College w.e.f. June 8,2022 after the superannuation in service of Prof.(Dr.) Edward Masih who completed his 14 years’ service as Principal of the College.
Dr. Kansra joined this college in 1987 and has been working as HOD of Commerce Department. He has done his Ph.D. in the field of Financial Management from H.P. University, Shimla and M.Com., M.Phil. from GNDU, Amritsar. Till date Dr. Kansra has served for more than 32 years in the capacity of teacher in this college.
Apart from this, he has also worked for more than three years as Director of C.T. Group of Institution, Jalandhar.

Guidance and Placement cell of Baring Union Christian College Batala

 

Guidance and Placement cell of Baring Union Christian College Batala organised a placement drive under the able guidance of Principal Prof. Dr Edward Masih and placement cell convener Dr Ritu Pandhi Nayyar. Mr Deepak Kumar (Senior Branch Manager SBI Life Insurance) along with his team came to the college campus. Around 100 students from final Year classes of various streams participated in the placement drive. Ms Amanjot Kaur welcomed the guests. Mr Deepak Kumar (Senior Branch Manager) delivered lecture on the whole recruitment process in the SBI Life Insurance.
The SBI team members Mr Gaurav (Assistant manager SBI Life Insurance), Mrs. Sonia (Development Manager SBI Life Insurance), Mr Harpal Singh (Agency Manager SBI Life Insurance) registered the participants in Utkarsh scheme. Principal Prof (Dr) Edward Masih motivated the students to do hard work to achieve their goals. He also presented souvenirs to Mr Deepak Kumar and their team members as a token of appreciation. The support of Miss Amanjot Randhawa Mr Harpreet Singh, Miss Alka Bamotra and Student Co-Ordinators Mr Swayam, Mr Armin Garg, Miss Harshita and Miss Muskan was appreciated for the successful completion of the event.

On 23rd April, an Extempore speech competition was organized by the staff of Dr. Ram singh library under the supreme guidance of the Principal Prof.(Dr.) Edward Masih and Ms. Ranjana Bharti librarian to cellbrate World Book Day. Students gave their views on books, their importance and their role in their life. Dr. Amita, HOD Chemistry, Dr. Ritu Pandi, Prof. Ramandeep kaur and Prof. Neha were the Judges. Students took participation enthusiastically. John Peter (BAJO, Alamjeet Kaur (B.Com.VI) and Sandeep Kaur (B.Com.VI) got the 15txd, 3rd postitions respectively. Prof. H.S. Randhawa, Mr. Victor MasA and Mr. Samson were present also.

This Blood Donation camp was arranged in collaboration with Blood incharge, Mr. Ashok Luna, Sahara club and Dr. Amandeep Kaur and her team from civil hospital, Batala. Teaching staff, non-teaching staff and students (both boys & girls) actively participated in this camp. The members of YRC & RRC, Prof. Rajiv McMullen, Prof. Mandeep Bedi, Prof. Anu, Dr. Lalit and Dr. Sushma actively participated in organising the blood donation camp.

Students learned a lot through enjoyment by watching 3-D show, dome theatre, power cycle, laser show, virtual shows, mirror illusions, science emporium, various phenomena of Physics etc.

Competition of the various events like Programming, Typing, Website Development, Graphics Designing, Debate, Rangoli, IT- Quiz and poster presentation were organised under the able guidance of Principal Prof (Dr)Edward Masih and under the supervision of HoD Mr. Narinder Singh. Mr. Harprabdeep Singh, Incharge of Society of CS & IT was the Coordinator of the function and Ms Alka Bamotra was the assistant coordinator of the function. Ms.Aman hosts the inaugural session.All the staff members and students of computer department were present in the function.

A seminar on 'Report Violence Against Women' was organised by department of Sociology BUC College Batala in Collaboration with CPRC Sanjh Kender and Women help desk Batala Police on 24-03-2022. This seminar was to make girl students aware about different Acts and legal provisions for fighting against injustice. After the introductory speech on 'The Violence Against Women: the Ground Reality' by the Head of the department of Sociology Dr Rajni Bala, the speakers from police department Sub Inspector Ms Rajbir Kaur, Ms Bhupinder Kaur, Ms. Daljit Kaur, ASI S. Gursharan ji, S. Gurwinder Singh highlighted different aspects of Violence against women as Sexual Harassment, Stalking, Domestic Violence, Rape and Cyber Crimes. They also aprised the students about different Acts and other legal provisions in these cases. The session proved to be very intearactive where students and teachers raised many queries which were answered satisfactorily by the representatives of Batala Police. The members of Women Cell BUC College Prof Mandeep Bedi, Prof Parminderjeet, Dr. Jagvinder Kaur, Prof Anu, Dr Amita, Ms Mandeep Sandhu, Dr Isha acted as Incharges from different departments and they also motivated the students to participate in such activities. At last, Convener of the seminar Dr Rajni Bala thanked all the speakers from police department, members of Women Cell, students and other guests for making the event successful.

National Science Day 28.02.2022

 

Physics Department of BUC College Batala celebrated National Science Day on 28.02.2022 under the able guidance of Principal Prof.(Dr.) EDWARD MASIH. Theme of event was"We are for Physics and Physics for us". Essay writing, poetry and drawing competitions were held in Physicslab. Students of B.Sc.(N.Med.& C.Sc.) participated in these competitions. Documentary on life history and achievements of Dr.C.V.Raman was shown to students. Dr.Mridula Dogra, (HOD)Physics Department, organised this event. Faculty members Dr.Amarjot, Mr. Pawanbir, Prof.L.P.Singh, Prof.Sushma, Dr.Amita, Prof. Mandeep Bedi, Prof.Anu and Dr. Isha were present in this event. Winners of competitions were awarded with medals and certificates.

Science Society of BUC college organised various activities on the occasion of National Science day which is celebrated on 28th February to commemorate the discovery of Raman effect by Sir C.V. Raman. Under the commited and able leadership of Principal Prof. (Dr.) Edward Masih and the guidance of teachers-in-charge Mrs. Mandeep Bedi and Dr. Amita, scientific model, rangoli and poster-making competitions were held in which students participated with great zeal and enthusiasm. The winners were awarded prizes by Principal Dr. Edward Masih and esteemed guest Mrs. Vandana who appreciated their efforts and encouraged them to participate with same gusto in future as well.

Under the committed and able leadership of chief-patron, Chairman BUCCA, the Most Rev. (Dr.) P K Samantaroy, patron, Principal Prof (Dr.) Edward Masih and Hon. Secretary BUCCA, Prof. (Dr.) Derick Engles, a one week multidisciplinary Faculty Development Program on Environmental Security: Approaches & Issues was organized by faculty of Sciences at BUC College Batala from Nov. 5-11;2021. With the efforts of co-patrons Dr. Amita and Prof. Mandeep Bedi and co-ordinators Dr. J.P. Singh and Dr. Mridula, the FDP was designed to provide the participants a comprehensive understanding of the concept of environmental security and the important issues related to it. There was an overwhelming response with 33 participants from various disciplines, who actively participated in a number of interactive sessions on different aspects of environmental security, held by eminent resource persons. The keynote address was delivered by Prof. (Dr.) AdarshPal Vig, Chairman, Punjab Pollution Control Board. All along the course, the participants were sensitized towards the cause of environmental security and equipped with the necessary skills that may help them to make the environment more secure. On the whole, the program was successfully conducted with a lot of commendable feedback from the participants.

Free Books Distribution at BUC College Batala

 

Under the guidance of the Principal Prof. (Dr.) Edward Masih & the supervision of librarian Ranjana Bharti, Dr. Ram Singh Library, BUC College,Batala, has distributed books to needy students for the whole academic session 2021-2022. The books were distributed to 350 students approximately. All staff members of the library were also present there.

Birth anniversary of Sardar (Saheed) Bhagat Singh Ji was celebrated at B.U.C College, Batala under the wise guidance of Principal Prof.(Dr.) Edward Masih. On the occasion Prof. Pawan kumar sharma (HOD English), Dr Bk sharma, Prof. Kirandeep Kaur, Prof. Ramandeep kaur and Prof. Daljit kaur paid a warm tribute to the contribution and sacrifice of Sardar Bhagat singh in the freedom movement of India. Principal Dr. Edward Ji stated that today's youth should take inspiration from him by directing themselves in the postive direction of the nation building.

On this occasion Principal Prof(Dr.) Edward Masih, staff, students of BUC, various dignitaries from BUCCA, Prof. Sukhjinder Singh, Prof. Om Parkash and other eminent personalities of Batala participated in Ardas ceremony. After that Guru Ka Atut Langar has been served.
All arrangements were made by students of the college under the supervision of the organising committee members: Mr. Harprabdeep Singh, Mr. Jagdeep Singh, Mr. Ashwani Kumar, Mr. Satpal Singh and Madam Ramandeep Kaur. Legal Awareness Programme (Webinar) by Legal Literacy Cell on 16 August 2021.

 

A Legal Awareness Programme regarding Pre-Institution Mediation was organized by Legal Literacy Cell, Baring Union Christian College, Batala through Webinar under the esteemed and able guidance of Principal Prof. (Dr.) Edward Masih, in collaboration with District Legal Services Authority, Gurdaspur.
The convener of the programme was Dr. Ritu Pandhi Nayyar (Assistant Professor, Economics). Advocate Rashpal Kaur was the eminent speaker of this programme. The programme was started with the welcome of Eminent Speaker, Principal Prof. (Dr.) Edward Masih, Faculty members and Students by Dr. Ritu Pandhi Nayyar. She threw a light on Legal Rights of general public and free legal-aid/ services given by District Legal Authority in her introductory words.
The speaker of the day Advocate Rashpal Kaur apprised that the free legal aid/ services are under directive principles of the state government. She explained the concept of Pre-Institution Mediation in detail. She stressed that The Legal Services Authority provides legal aid by way of providing services of able efficient Advocates, any person, who fulfills the criteria is entitled for the legal aid. She focused that in different cases like domestic violence, frauds, disputes etc. the needy person can come to Room No. 104 at district court complex, she stressed that they will get justice with in short time. She said that Punjab Government is taking such steps to provide justice to concerned persons. Forwarding in her lecture she educated the audience about the process of getting free legal services under DLSA.
Thereafter, in interaction session some queries were asked by students and faculty members which were duly answered by the speaker.
At the end of the programme, Dr. Lalit formally thanks Eminent speaker, Faculty members and students (More than 70) of the college for making this webinar a success. Dr. Amita, Mrs. Ramandeep Kaur were also present in the webinar.

 

75th India's Independence Day celebration.

 

Happy Independence Day to all!

75th Independence Day of India was celebrated on 15-08-2021 with a flag hoisting ceremony by Prof.(Dr.) Edward Masih, Principal of BUC College Batala along with Mr. Ajay Bir Singh, Principal Baring School Batala, Dr. Ashwani Kansra, Head department of Commerce, Mr Narinder Singh, Head department of computer. It was followed by everyone singing the National anthem. NCC Cadets also sang the NCC Song. Madam Ramandeep Kaur handled the stage. Principal Prof(Dr.) Edward Masih, School Principal Mr. Ajaybir Singh, Dr. Kansra addressed the audience with their valuable words on independence day and presented the momentous to the participants and Ms. Alka Bamotra, Care taker NCC presented the vote of thanks. Prof. Narinder Singh, Prof. Ashwani Kumar, Mr Robin and other non teaching staff were also present there. Jai Hind!

 

A National Webinar on Conserving Environment organised on 6-7-2021 to celebrate Van Mahotsav

 

Under the committed and able leadership of Principal Prof (Dr.) Edward Masih and guidance of Teachers-in -charge of Science Society and Plantation Committee, Prof. Mandeep Bedi, Dr. Amita and Dr. J P Singh, a National Webinar (Theme: Conserving Environment through Plantation: A Practical Approach) was organised on July 6, 2021 to celebrate Van Mahitsav. The resource persons for the webinar were Padam shree awardee Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal and Dr. Jatinder Katnoria , Head, Department of Botanical and Environmental Sciences, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar. In the beginning Prof. Mandeep Bedi introduced the theme of the webinar to the participants. Then Principal Prof. (Dr.) Edward Masih accorded a formal welcome to the speakers of the day. Dr. Sukhdeep Ghuman introduced the first speaker Sant Seechewal to the audience. The renowned environmentalist, Seechewal ji while discussing the importance of natural resources threw light on the Seechewal model, Rukh App and various activities being undertaken by his organization. He emphasized on the importance of trees and motivated the participants to contribute towards the green cover of the nation. This was followed by the formal introduction of second speaker Dr. Jatinder Katnoria by Dr. Amita. Dr. Katnoria delibrated on the importance of Biodiversity in conserving the environment. She discussed in detail the rich Biodiversity of plants. At the same time she raised an alarm that about 15-20 percent of the plant species in India are now endangered. The need of the hour is to conserve this Biodiversity and hence the environment. The webinar was attended by more than100 participants from across the nation. The webinar got an overwhelming response from the teaching faculty of various departments who attended and actively interacted with the resource persons. The students also actively participated and put forth their queries which were satisfactorily answered by the resource persons. In the end Prof. Mandeep Bedi and Dr. Amita gave the concluding remarks and a formal vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. J P Singh.

National Webinar on New Education Policy 2020 Organized by Dr. Ram Singh Library JULY 2, 2021 (Friday) Under the leadership of Principal Prof. Dr. Edward Masih BUC College organize a national webinar on New Education Policy 2020. Librarian of Dr. Ram Singh Library Convener of the webinar of the webinar with the help and expertise from Prof. Neeraj Kumar Sharma and Dr. JP Singh the Co – Conveners, prepared the outline and design of the said webinar. Dr. Jatinder Singh Bal former V.C of Sant Baba Bhag Sing University was very kind to be the key speaker. A total of 135 (one hundred and thirty five) participants is encouraging number. Ranjana Bharti outlined the webinar profile for the benefit of participants. This was followed by welcoming and introduction of key speaker Dr. Bal. Dr. Bal shared his views on the above topic in a simple and understandable manner in great detail. Interactive session was spearheaded by Prof. Neeraj K. Sharma. Prof. Rajive Mcmullen, Dr. Gurpreet, Bhawna Malik, raised pertinent questions with the key speaker and useful discussion followed suggesting remedies. Dr. JP Singh thanked the key speaker and the worthy participants. Principal Prof. (Dr.) Edward Masih congratulated the webinar organizing team.

Republic Day Celebration on 26-01-2021

 

On 26th January, 1950 the constitution of India came into force and the country became a republic. To mark this event, Today 72th Republic day celebrated at B.U.C College, Batala with great reverence under the directions of Prof.(Dr.) Edward Masih, Principal of the college. The day begun with hoisting of flag by chief Guest of the day, Mr. Alwin Masih, former General Secretary CNI . The students, staff and NCC cadets salute the National Flag and pledged themselves to uphold the honour and integrity of India. Guests, teachers, staff and students joined together in singing National Anthem. The speech by the students on this day emphasized the importance of corruption free, violence free India, literacy, equality and respect for elders. Principal Sir formally welcomed the Guests and motivated the students to preserve the rich heritage of the country. Mr Alwin Masih , the chief Guest of the day and Dr. Ashwani Kansra, HoD Commerce department specify the importance of Republic Day in Indian History. E-learning IIRS-ISRO Outreach Programme June- July 2020

 

Under the esteemed guidance of Principal Prof. (Dr.) Edward Masih, Department of Physics participated in Off Campus Outreach Certificate Programme conducted by Indian institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS), Dehradun. Indian institute of Remote Sensing, Dehradun under Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), Department of Space, Government of India has started various outreach e-Learning Education programmes during COVID 19 pandemic to give exposure to students from safety of their homes. Dr. Mridula Dogra, HOD, Physics Department has coordinated this online training course on “Satellite photogrammetry and its applications”. Students of B.Sc.(Non-Med. & C.Sc.) namely Vipanpreet Kaur, Sukhmanpreet Kaur, Sandeep Kaur and Kiranpreet Kaur have participated in this online course. There were live and interactive sessions (EDUSAT) followed by online examination procedure in the form of quiz. Students attended all these online sessions and e- certificates were issued by IIRS to them. IIRS is still offering various online courses for students. Interested students can contact Dr. Mridula Dogra for joining such programmes in future.

He joined our college on July 21, 2008. Dr. Edward Masih is an able leader who has pushed this premier institution to greater heights. Being a man gifted with immense skills to. organize and manage, he has been an asset for us all. Inarguably, in the midst of compelling difficulties, he has performed with immeasurable internal strength. On this very happy and special day, we, the students and staff members of the college, extend our heartfelt thanks to Dr Edward Masih for his sincere leadership. Red Ribbon Club of B U C College, Batala created awareness regarding COVID-19, under mission fateh on July 24, 2020, under the able and committed leadership of pricipal Prof. (Dr.) Edward Masih and guidance of Dr. Amita. Masks were distributed among the streat hawkers, auto rickshaw and rickshaw drivers nd many other people in batala. Faculty members of college made aware the people about COVID-19 and COVA-app. They motivated the people to download COVA-app by explaining it's benefits. Prof. Mandeep Bedi, Dr. Lalit, Prof. Rajiv, Dr. Rajni Bala, Dr. Mridula, Prof. Parminderjeet, Mr. Stefan, Mr. Shamoun, Mr. Vicky, Mr. Mansoor, Mr. Bashir, Mr. Jatinder and many other staff members were present on this occasion.

An online National level IT-Quiz was organised by PG Department of Computer Science & IT on 10th June 2020.

 

Under the competent advice of Principal, Prof.(Dr.) Edward Masih and under the supervision of Head of the department Mr Narinder Singh, Mr Ashwani Kumar, Assistant professor department of computer science & IT organised an Online National level IT-Quiz(Inter School/College)on 10th of June 2020. The quiz was consists of general questions from all the topics of computer science. There were 20 questions from the different subjects of computer science. The paper was of 100 marks. 154 students from different colleges or schools of India has participated in this Quiz. 88 participants got more than 60% marks so they got their E-Certificates at their email ID's. Students shown a keen interest in this event and asked for more such events online during this pandemic of covid-19. Even some of the students shared their pictures with certificates after completing the quiz on social media. The questions were designed by Ms. Rimpi Bhandari of computer science department. Head of the department, Mr Narinder Singh congratulates the winners, organisers and the staff for the grand success of the event.

LEARN WHILE PLAY Was organized by Physics Department.

 

Department of Physics organized online quiz for students under the dynamic leadership of Principal, Prof.(Dr.)Edward Masih. Students were motivated to explore and learn while playing in this lockdown period. Dr. Mridula Dogra, HOD (Physics Department) hosted the quiz at KAHOOT QUIZ MAKER. Other faculty members Dr. Manpreet Singh and Mr. Pawanbir along with students of B.Sc. (Non-Med. and C.Sc.) participated in this quiz. The online quiz was played for 27 days (from 12.05.2020 to 08.06.2020) in which approximately 50 students participated. Progress of each student was reported immediately after completion of each quiz to keep them encouraged. Different topics of physics such as electronics, photoelectric effect, Compton Effect, quantum mechanics, simple harmonic motion, damped oscillations, cosmic rays - elementary particles, molecular spectroscopy, coupling schemes etc. have been touched. This online quiz at KAHOOT engaged the students to learn something new by using technology in the best way. The participation and dedication of students in this quiz has been really appreciable.

Youth Festival 2020 was organized on 13-03-2020 & 14-03-2020.

 

Youth Club of BUC College organized the two day Youth Festival 2020 with the Directions of Principal Prof (Dr.) Edward Masih and under the guidance of Mr. Sukhjinder Singh, Coordinator of youth club.

 

Science Society organized Poster Making and Rangoli Competitions on 09-03-2020 on scientific theme.

 

Under the leadership of Principal Prof.(Dr.) Edward Masih and guidance of Prof. Mandeep Bedi and Dr. Amita, science society of BUC college, organized Poster making and Rangoli competitions on 09-03-2020 on scientific theme. In poster presentation, Amandeep kaur from semester 4th and in scientific rangoli, kiranjot kaur and Jassica from semester 6th stood first. In song and dance competition, Amandeep kaur, semester 6th and Nidhi semester 4th grabbed first position respectively. On this occasion, science society also honoured the students who got first position in university examination and the office bearers of society.

 

International Women's Day Celebrated on 06-03-2020.

 

Under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Edward Masih, Principal, BUC College Batala l and Dr. Rajni Bala, Convener of Women Cell, International Women's day was celebrated on March 6th 2020.
A special lecture on Women health and hygiene was delivered by the Chief guest of the day, Dr. Parul Mahajan. A special session on 'Yoga for Healthy Life' was also held which was led by Prof. Parminder jit Kaur.
On this occasion Poster Making and Rangoli Competitions were organised for girl students of the College. Principal Dr. Edward Masih congratulated the members of Women Cell for organising such a wonderful programme and presented his message for International Women's Day.
The members of Women Cell of the college guided and encouraged the girl students to take part in all the activities and encouraged them to come forward to achieve their goals.Students also presented a cultural programme on Women issues. Prof. Mandeep Bedi, Co-Convener of the Cell presented Vote of thanks. The other members of the Women Cell Dr. Jagvinder Kaur, Dr.Amita, Prof. Anu, Prof. Savita, Dr. Anju Puri, Prof. Mandeep Sandhu and Dr. Jatinder motivated the students to be strong and courageous.

Society of Computer science and IT celebrated its 27th annual function. The function was divided into two days,
On the First day (04-03-2020) of 27th Society function of the department of computer science and IT, Competition of the various events like Programming, Typing, Web Development, Graphics Designing, Debate, Model presentation and poster presentation were organised with the Directions of Principal Prof (Dr)Edward Masih and under the guidance of HoD Mr. Narinder Singh. Mr. Jagdip Singh, In-charge of Society of CS & IT was the Coordinator of the function. All the staff members and students of computer department were present in the function.
On the Second Day (09-03-2020) of 27th Society function(04-03-2020) of the department of computer science and IT, Prize distribution function and a cultural program consisting of Bhangra, Dance , Singing and choreography were organised. Principal Prof (Dr)Edward Masih Ji was the chief guest of day. All the staff members and students of computer department were present in the function.

Convocation for the session 2018-19 of Baring union Christian College Batala was held on 29-02-2020 at Baring College Hall. Ms. Mia Yen, Consul General of Canada in Chandigarh, India was the Chief Guest of the Day.

 

A guest lecture on Employment Opportunities was organised On 18th Feb 2020 by Society of Computer Science and IT.

 

On 18th Feb 2020, Society of Computer Science and IT has organized a guest lecture on Employment Opportunities. The resource person of the day was Mr Vikramjit Ji (PCS officer) from the District Bureau of employment & Enterprise (DBE) Gurdaspur. Program was started by Mr Harprabdeep Singh by introducing the Guest. The DBE has been set up as a one-stop platform for facilitating employment, skill training, self-employment, and entrepreneurship development at the district level. He said that the Interested Job seeker can get him/ herself registered with the Bureau which in turn facilitates the counseling, skill development, self-employment, Bank Linkage, and Enterprise support to the candidate in order to enable them for taking up various jobs and self-employment opportunities. He has introduced ocean of opportunities to our students by quoting the numerous success stories of various officers. Ms. Ritu Pandi, placement coordinator concluded the lectur. At last Mr. Ashwani Kumar, assistant professor of department of computer science delivered the vote of thanks. Mr Jagdip Singh, Ms Mandeep Kaur, Ms. Alka Bamotra and other staff members of computer science were present there.

 

A Quiz Competition was organised by NSS department with collaboration with Computer science and IT society on 17-2-2020.

 

On 17-2-2020 a Quiz Competition was organised by NSS department with collaboration with Computer science and IT society of BUC College. The initiative was taken by Mr Harprabdeep Singh, NSS coordinator under the able guidance of Principal Prof (Dr.) Edward Masih. Mr. Ashwani Kumar, Assistant professor, department of computer science hosted the quiz. Principal Prof. (Dr) Edward Masih suggested the students to increase their general knowledge & Mental ability. He further added that these type of quizzes enhance the knowledge of the students. He asked the students to make a habit of reading newspapers daily. Mr Narinder Singh, Head of the department of computer science congratulated the winners and gave them prizes. He also appreciated the efforts of the computer staff. At this occasion Mr Jagdip Singh, Ms Mandeep Kaur, Ms. Alka Bamotra and other staff members of computer science were present.

On 13-02-2020 Department of Physics, BUC college Batala organized a guest lecture on the topic of "The Adventures of Science" under the able leadership of Principal Prof. (Dr.) Edward Masih on13-02-2020. The resource person was Dr. Bindiya Arora, Assistant Professor, Department of Physics, GNDU, Amritsar. Dr. Mridula Dogra, HoD, Department of Physics welcomed and introduced the resource person to the audience. Dr. Bindiya Arora has 36 research papers, 5 memberships of professional bodies, 6 awards and 4 research projects to her credit. She was awarded the Young Scientist award by Punjab Science Congress for her outstanding work in the field of black body radiation shift calculations for optical clocks. She was chosen among the top 3 women scientist in India by NASI-Scopus 2019. Dr. Bindiya Arora delivered lecture on "The adventures of Science" which covered unsolved mysteries in science, such as

Students actively participated in the lecture and asked lots of questions to satisfy their curiosities. She very well clarified their doubts by giving the real life examples. More than 100 students attended the guest lecture. Physics faculty Dr. Manpreet Singh and Mr. Pawanbir Singh were present along with other faculty members of science departments. In the last, the resource person was thanked for delivering such a wonderful lecture.

To mark this event, Today 71st Republic day celebrated at B.U.C College, Batala with great reverence. The day begun with hoisting of flag by Prof.(Dr.) Edward Masih, Principal of the college. The students and NCC cadets salute the National Flag and pledged themselves to uphold the honour and integrity of India. Guests, teachers, staff and students joined together in singing National Anthem. The speech by the students on this day emphasized the importance of corruption free, violence free India, literacy, equality and respect for elders. Principal Sir motivated the students to preserve the rich heritage of the country. Dr Ashwani Kansra specify the importance of Republic Day in Indian History. Dr. Naresh Kumar Delivered the vote of thanks. The stage was well hosted by Madam Ms. Ramandeep Kaur.. Happy Republic Day to all.

BUC College dedicated a Book Exhibition to 550th Birthday Anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji on 2nd November.

 

On 2nd November 2019, a ‘Book Exhibition’ is organized by Dr. Ram Singh Library, BUC College, Batala on occasion of 550th Birth anniversary of Sh. Guru Nanak Dev Ji under the guidance of Principal Prof. Dr. Edward Masih in collaboration with Mrs. Ranjana Bharti, Librarian. Mr. Daniel B. Dass, Director SEDP, Manager ADTA Diocese of Amritsar, was the Chief Guest and Dr. H.S. Fr. Librarian, GNDU, Amritsar Chopra was guest of honour of the exhibition. The exhibition was ushered with inauguration by esteemed guests. Further, a warm welcome was given to the guests by Librarian Ranjana Bharti and library staff. Principal Masih honoured them with bouquets. In the exhibition, approximately, 350 books related to life, work and philosophy of Sh. Guru Nanak Dev Ji were exhibited in Library Hall RR1. These books were in all languages as Hindi, Punjabi and English including biographies and Janam Sakhis. The main focuses or highlighters of the exhibition were an old picture of Sh. Guru Nanak Dev ji and Janam Sakhi by Pyar Singh, a rare document with only two copies in India. Once copy is laid in Baring Union Christian College, Batala and One is in Khalsa College, Amritsar. This Janam Sakhi is published with permission of Director of Records, India Office Library. It is titled as panj. B 40 and it was came from British Museum London, England. Near about 1000 participants and all staff members of BUCC behold the exhibition.

At the end, a formal vote of thanks was given to guests by Dr. Edward (Principal), Mr. Daniel B. Dass, Chief guest of the exhibition appreciated the efforts of BUCC especially the Library staff and encourage them to execute these things in the future also.

 

Tree Plantation Drive (01-11-2019)

 

On 01-11-2019 Plantation committee planted 75 saplings in bucc, Methodist school, SDS school and National progressive school, batala under the guidance of Principal Prof.(Dr.) Edward Masih and mentorship of Prof. Mandeep Bedi.

 

Talent hunt on Science Organized by Department of chemistry that Contained Declamation contest, quiz, and essay writing competition was held on 31-10- 2019.

 

In view of ongoing platinum jubilee celebration being held in the college. Chemistry Department of BUC College organized a “Talent Hunt on Science” on October 31, 2019 under the leadership of Principal Prof.(Dr.) Edward Masih and the guidance of the convener Dr. Isha Lumb. Prof. Pawan Malik Head, Department of chemistry S.L. Bawa D.A.V College, Batala graced the occasion as a judge of this event. Dr. Isha Lumb welcomed the Principal, event judge, colleagues, all participants and audience. Three competitions: Essay writing (convener Prof. Anu), Declamation contest and Quiz competition (convener Dr. Isha Lumb) were held under “Talent hunt on Science.” In essay writing competition, 14 students participated, Veera Narayanamma of B.Sc. Medical Sem. I (Title: Introduction to an atom) secured 1st, Nidhi Bawa of B.Sc. Medical Sem. III (Title: Chemistry in Daily life) secured IInd and Jaswinder kaur of B.Sc. Non Medical Sem. I (Title: Air Pollution) secured IIIrd position. In declamation contest 10 students participated, Mamta Rani of B.Sc. Non Medial Sem. Vth (Title: Environment and Human Health) stood Ist, Simranjit Kaur of B.Sc. Non Medial Sem. IIIrd (Title: Environment and Human Health) stood IInd and Diksha Mahajan of B.Sc. Non Medial Sem. IIIrd (Title: Satellite Communication) stood IIIrd position. In quiz competition there were four Teams A, B, C and D. Team B (Anupreet, Rajni, Shobit) bagged Ist, Team A (Kiranpreet, Nidhi Bawa and Janvi Aggarwal) IInd, Team D (Ankit, Rajbir Singh and Rajinder) IIIrd position. Judge Prof. Pawan Malik announced the Smart Science Student Award of the year 2019 to Nidhi Bawa of B.Sc. Medical Sem. III.

At the conclusion of this event Principal Dr. Edward Masih, Judge Prof. Pawan Mailk and faculty members of chemistry department honoured the prize winners. Principal also honoured the judge of the event. In his address, Principal motivated the students to participate in such type of competitions, not even in the college but also in inter college competitions. He insisted that one should be a good human being first. He conveyed his thanks to the judge for sparing his valuable time. On the behalf of department Dr. Amita extended her vote of thanks to Principal, Judge Prof. Pawan Malik, teaching and non teaching Staff and the students. About 70 students attended this event. Celebration of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas on 31-10-2019

 

On Thursday, 31 October Rashtriya Ekta Diwas 2019 was celebrated in BUC College Batala by NSS Unit(In-charge Mr. Harprabdeep Singh) under the able guidance of Principal Prof.(Dr.) Edward Masih. Oath ceremony took place for national integration by the staff and students. Mr. Ashwani Kumar, Assistant Professor delivered a short lecture on the life of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel ji on this occasion of his birthday Celebration.

Guest Lecture as a part of Celebration of Vigilance awareness week on 29-10-2019

 

On the occasion of Vigilance awareness week, a guest lecture was organised on 29-10-2019 by NSS and NCC unit of college under the able guidance of Principal Prof (Dr.) Edward Masih. Shri Parampal Singh, SSP Vigilance Amritsar wing was the cheif guest of the day and S. Balwinder Singh, SDM Batala was the special guest of the event. Other officers of Vigilance department, teachers and students graced the occasion.

 

Guest lecture on the topic of Transition Metal Chemistry was organised by Chemistry Department on 25-10-2019

 

Chemistry Department of BUC college organized a guest lecture on “Transition Metal Chemistry: Color of coordination complexes” on Oct 25, 2019 under the leadership of Principal Prof. (Dr.) Edward Masih. The Resource person was Prof. (Dr.) Paramjit Kaur, Department of Chemistry GNDU, Amritsar. Dr. Amita Convener and Head Department of Chemistry welcomed and introduced the resource person, Dr. Paramjit kaur, who has 70 research papers in reputed international journals and also reviewer of many international journals. She told that this lecture is the part of syllabus of B.Sc. students and will be highly beneficial for them. The resource person explained Transition Metal Chemistry in a very simple manner to the students. She said that the color of different complexes is due to d-d transitions and charge transfer transitions. She further explained that coordination compounds of transition metals with weak field ligands are often have blue, green or indigo color because they absorb lower energy light. Dr. Paramjit also discussed crystal field theory, Jahn Teller distortions, magnetism and lattice energy. At the end of the lecture students ask their queries and resource person satisfied them at the fullest. The resource person was honoured by giving memento. At the conclusion of the lecture Dr Amita on the behalf of chemistry department extended her vote of thanks to resource person, faculty members and students.

About 70 students gained knowledge from this lecture. Prof Anu, Dr. Isha Lumb, Prof. Rinku Malhi, Prof Palak attended this lecture.

Books exhibition was organized in the Library of BUC College on 21-10-2019

 

On 21st October, 2019 a Books exhibition was organized in Dr. Ram Singh Library, BUC College, Batala under the supervision of Principal Prof. (Dr) Edward Maish with support of Librarian Mrs. Ranjana and Library staff.
This exhibition was exhibited by Ravi Sahit Publishers(RSP), Amritsar. Mrs. Ranjana welcomed all in the Library. In this exhibition different kinds of books were displayed on various subjects as Punjabi, English, History, Religion, Political Science etc. Approximately 1000 books were exhibited in this Books Exhibition. Students and staff visited the exhibition. They bought many books to add their personal collection of books. Near about 500 students participated in the exhibition enthusiastically. They also bought the books which were related to their subjects. Students felt many of the books of relevant information and useful for them in life.
At the end of the exhibition a formal vote of thanks was given to the conductors and made sure them to do similar exhibitions in the future also to enhance the knowledge of the staff & Students.

 

Guest Lecture organized by library staff on 19-10-2019 & delivered by Dr. H.S.Chopra

 

On October 19, 2019, a guest lecture was organized in Dr. Ram Singh library, Baring Union Christian College, Batala under the guidance of Principal Prof. (Dr.) Edward Masih in Collaboration with Librarian Ranjana Bharti. The Resource Person of this Lecture was Dr. H.S.Chopra, Fr. Librarian, GNDU, Amritsar. Ms. Ranjana welcomed the guest, Principal sir, Library staff and other staff members. Dr. Chopra delivered a lecture on 1. ‘Practical Librarianship’ 2. Librarianship through the ages through PPT. He started his lecture departing information about the History of libraries and their establishment. Further, He said that in Ancient time, Ancient people used to paint on the walls of the caves & curved their emotions with the aid of Hasta Shilpas as it remained forever and coming generation Knew about their life and tradition. He talked about different libraries of the different Universities and the material laid there. The topics of the PPT were:

Mehndi Competition (16-10-19)

 

On 16th Oct, 2019, a ' Mehndi Competition ' was held in Baring Union Christian College, Batala. On occasion of Karwa Choth under the guidance of Principal Prof.(Dr) Edward Masih in collaboration with youth coordinator Prof. Sukhjinder Singh Bath. In this competition student participated enthusiastically first position holder was Sakshi, Second Akshita and Third Position secured by Komalpreet and Maneesha. Consolation Prize was given to Riganjeet Kaur. The Judges of this competition were Dr. Sukhdeep Ghuman, Dr. Rajni Bala and Dr. Sushma Sharma. On this occasion Prof. Ramandeep Kaur, Prof. Neha, Prof. Sunita, Prof. Nirmal, Prof. Navneet, Prof. Alka, Prof. Amandeep and Mrs. Ranjana(Librarian) were presented there.

Guest Lecture on Gurmukhi Lipi Organised by Department of Punjabi (12-10-19)

 

Department of Punjabi organized a Guest Lecture on Gurmukhi Lipi under the guidance of Principal Prof.(Dr.) Edward Masih and HoD Prof. Sukhjinder Singh. The speaker of the day was National and state awardee Dr. Paramjit Singh Kalsi.

BUC College Participated in GNDU Youth fest (Inter Zonal) and won five prizes in different categories.

 

Tour to Mussoorie, Rishikesh and Haridwar from September 29 to October 2nd 2019 of Mathematics Department.

 

Mathematics Department of Baring Union Christian College organized a four day tour to Mussoorie to provide its staff members and students learning and enriching experience. Tour was planned and coordinated by Prof. L.P. Singh and two more teachers of the Math‘s Department: Ms.SandeepMalhi and Ms.DavindreetKaur around 24 students joined the tour which commenced on 28th September,2019 evening and lasted till morning 02 October, 2019. Tour members first started their journey in the mood of excitement from Amritsar Railway station at sharp 10:10pm. and reached Dehradun next day at 10:30 am.After having Breakfast all the members boarded the bus from Dehradun to Mussoorie.
Finally the college’s tour team landed in Mussoorie on 29 September,2019 at Bus stand of Mussoorie and everyone checked in into Hotel Park located near Picture palace Chowk.Rooms were assigned to all the students and staff members by Prof.L.P. Singh. At 2:00pm.After having lavish lunch at the green vegetarian Restaurant, the tour team left for Mussoorie’ssightseeing.
The tour party visited various beautiful places there and everyone clicked pictures at the selfie point to capture every rare moment of the tour and a sudden rainfall added an extra flavor to its beauty. Experiences at Gandhi Chowk in Mussoorie were indeed worth remembering and cherishing. Afterward the team had dinner at the green vegetarian restaurant and again returned to the Hotel where all gathered in Prof. L.P. Singh’s roomand participated in various entertaining activitieslike singing,dancing and joking.
Next day on 30th September, 2019,team assembled for breakfast in the hotel at 9:00am.Andimmediately after breakfast everyone left for the company garden Mussoorie. Thereeveryone enjoyed beautiful sight of waterfall, flowers and attractive shops and students also enjoyed the water boat ride available in the garden. All had lunch in the Copper Grill restaurant and get an opportunity to get a taste of local Mussoorie food. By rope way the team reached Gun Hill Point and got a chance to see exceptional natural views from the top. Afterward extensive shopping and learning team went back to green restaurant at 9.00 pm. for dinner.
On 1st October, 2019, the team left the hotel for Dehradun and reached at 8 am and had breakfast there. A bus was hired by the tour party and student enjoyed a lot during the journeyfor Dehradun to Rishikesh by performing various entertaining activities like antakshri, singing,dancing etc. In Rishikesh tour party enjoyed the sacred sight of Ram Jhulla and captured there beautiful moments in photos. Finally the team arrived at Gurudwara Sahib of Rishikesh where everyone gained in sight of an inspiringMuseum about Sikh history and had Langer as per Sikh traditions.At the end of the day the college team reached Prathana Ashram at Haridwar. The college team also visited Har-ki-Pauri and attended the GangaAarti at Haridwar which was a unique experience and fascinated everyone to the Core. After sightseeing in the late evening the team reached PrathnaAashram and had dinner there. After the dinner,the tour party started their journey back to home from Haridwar railway station and finally reached back to Beas on 2nd October, 2019 at 6.30 am.
The tour was a delightful experience for all. It was an opportunity for all to get a good and positive exposure and to learn about the culture of other Indian states. The tour was also a platform for them to get a taste of local foods, understands traditional and appreciate the beauty of these hill stations and develop a strong bonding between each other.

RRC & YRC Unit organised a guest lecture on Drug Addiction and Problems in Punjab By Dr. Jatinder Singh on 04-10-2019

 

Red Ribbon Club of BUC College, organized a Guest Lecture on 4th October 2019, on Drug addiction and problems in Punjab under the directions of Assistant Director, Red Cross Unit, Gurdaspur and the leadership of Principal Prof(Dr) Edward Masih. Dr. Amita, Convener of RRC welcomed the resource persons Dr. Jatinder Singh, a renowned Psychiatrist, Dera Baba Nanak, Gurdaspur and Retd. Prof. Parveen Paul, GND University, Amritsar. Then Dr. Lalit Kumar introduced the guests. Dr. Jatinder Singh explained in a very simple manner to the students that intake of “ Heroin”, which is also known as “chhita” is the major problem in Punjab, it is killing our youth. The main countries which supply this drug in India are Afganistan, Turki, Pakistan. Instead of strict rules, Chhita travels to our country due to demand. A single dose of this makes the person addict. Therefore one should control oneself. He further insisted that the addict person should be treated as a patient and should not be scolded. For the treatment of drug addict government has opened “Umang Centre or clinic”. Students and teachers asked questions and resource person satisfied them.
The another speaker Prof. Parveen Paul also shared his views with students and told them that young generation need to stay away from such drugs which ruin their life. At the end of lectures, resource persons were honoured by giving mementoes and Dr. David Teja extended vote of thanks on behalf of RRC. In this event 62 students and about 10 teachers participated.

On the eve of Gandhi Jayanti, NSS unit organized “Swachhata he Sewa ” on 01-10-2019.

 

On the eve of Gandhi Jayanti, NSS unit organized “Swachhata he Sewa ” programme under the guidance of Prof ( Dr.) Edward Masih, Principal of the college, Program officer NSS and students actively participated in it. Principal Sir presented his views and said that it is important to connect students with the extraordinary personality and ideology of Mahatma Gandhi. Such practices will make students a more responsible and better citizen tomorrow.

 

A Story writing competition was organised by Department of Hindi on 14-09-2019.

 

Short story writing Competition for all the College students was organized on 14.09.19. Almost 15 students participated in the competition. M.A Hindi students of semester I & III showed keen interest in the activity. Some students of degree classes also participated. Ms. Navjot Kaur, Amanbir Kaur, Navdeep Kaur of MA Hindi 3rd Semester, Ms. Mandeep Kaur, Ms. Sumandeep Kaur, Monica Sharma of MA Hindi Semester-I, Ms. Seema BA Semester-V, Ms. Kalash Attri, BSc. NM Semester-V, Ms. Rabia, Puneet and Manisha-BA-1 Semester participated in this function.

 

A Guest lecture on the topic of "Phonetics" was organised by Department of English on 10-9-19.

 

On 10 September 2019, under the guidance of the Officiating Principal Prof. (Dr.) Ashwani Kansra and worthy supervision of Prof. Pawan Kumar Sharma, Head, PG Department of English and Dr. B.K. Sharma, Convener, English literary Society (ELS), an interaction programme on Phonetics ‘An Interaction on Phonetics’ was organized in the premises of PG Department of English. The students of M.A. (English) of Sem-I and Sem-III participated in it. Sh. Baljeet Singh, Proprietor, Creator Academy Phonetics, Amritsar, was the main speaker in the programme. He educated the students about pronunciation, transcription, stress placement and stress change in words according to the Received Pronunciation (RP). He also answered the various questions asked by the students. At the end, Prof. Savita thanked Mr. Baljeet Singh for sharing the valuable knowledge with the students and encouraging them to work hard in their lives. Dr. Sukhdeep Ghuman, Prof. Kirandeep Kaur, Prof. Satpal Singh, Prof. Neha, Prof. Nimrat attended the programme.

 

Mathematical Quiz was organized by Department of mathematics on 10-09-2019

 

Department of Mathematics of BUC College, Batala organized a Quiz Competition under the leadership of Officiating Principal Dr. Ashwani Kansra as a part of ongoing celebrations of Platinum Jubilee of the college on September 10, 2019. The competition was supervised by Prof. L.P. Singh, Head of Mathematics Department and the stage was handled by Ms. Sandeep Kaur and Ms. Rupinderjit Kaur. The events were started at 11:00 A.M with a welcome speech by Ms. Sandeep Kaur. She formally welcomed the Dr. Ashwani Kansra and all the invited guests. Afterward, Dr. Kansra addressed the students and familiarised the students with the brief history of Department of Mathematics and the college. He also encouraged students to work hard for their future. Three team participated in the competition and named as team A, team B, and team C. Details of the team is given below:- Team A participants: Nikhil Aggarwal, Sohail, RajdeepSingh. Team B participants: Sukhmanpreet Kaur, Manish K., Dilpreet Kaur. Team C participants: Anupreet K. ,Priya, SahipreetK. The competition was conducted in two sessions and there were four rounds in each session. The very first session was conducted by Prof.L. P. Singh & second session was conducted by Ms. Sandeep Malhi. Prof. Ashwani Kumar acted as a technical expert and recorded the score for all the teams. This was followed by many cultural performances by students and the finally results were announced and all the teams gave a very tough competition. Team C secured first position, whereas team A and team B stood second and third positions respectively. Prizes were given to winners by Dr. Kansra. The event was concluded with a beautiful Bhangra performance and refreshment was served to all the guests and students. Two Days Punjab Darshan: A Photo Exhibition was organised on 9 & 10 September 2019.

 

In view of the ongoing Platinum Jubilee Celebrations being held in the college, in Punjab Darshan Photo Exhibition was organised at BUC College Batala’s Dr. Ram Singh Library from 9th to 10th September 2019 under the leadership of Officiating Principal Dr. Ashwani Kansra. S. Kashmir Singh Boparai, an educationist and former student of BUC College during 1971-72, played the role of Chief Guest. S. Parmjeet Singh (Educationist & social worker) and S. Sewa Singh (Industrialist) also graced the occasion with their benevolent presence. This was followed by a welcome speech by Dr. Amita, Convener of Platinum Jubilee Celebrations. She welcomed all the invited guests, Principal and students and also familiarised the students with the purpose of the exhibition. Afterward,, Officiating Principal Dr. Ashwani Kansra formally welcomed the Chief Guest and other guess. Further, he acquainted the students with the guests and motivated them to work like these honourable personalities. During his address, S. Kashmir Singh (Chief Guest) inspired students to lead a disciplined life. He also appealed students to gain maximum knowledge from the exhibition about Punjab’s rich heritage Punjab Darshan was made b Baljit Singh after travelling the entire Punjab on a bicycle. He covered 26000 kms in 52 days and collected five hundred pictures from all over the Punjab. The exhibition is a collection of pictures of various historical places of Punjab like Ancient Hindu Temples, Historical Gurdwaras, Beautiful Churches, Olf Mosques, Jain Temples, Archaeological Sites, Forts of Muggal and Sikh period, Tombs, Palaces and so on. The supreme holy Chapel of BUC College is also a permanent and proud part of the exhibition. Under this program more than 400 students from 12 schools of Batala besides more than 1500 students of the college visited college to attend the exhibitions. The students also saw the entire college campus and Holy Chapel. Following schools visited the college under his program: Agyawanti Marwaha DAV Sr. Sec. School for Girls Batala Salvation Army School, Batala Govt. Girls Sr. Sec. School, Batala Methodist Sr. Sec School, Batala Arya Girls Sr. Sec. School, Batala Baring School, Batala R.D. National Nutrition week from Sept. 1 to 7, 2019 celebrated by society of promotion of sciences

 

Society for the Promotion of Sciences organized various activities on the theme of Nutrition to celebrate "National Nutrition Week" i.e. Sept. 1 to 7, 2019. About 50 students took an active part in the activities including Essay Writing Competition (Topic: Why should I say No to Junk Food?) Collage and Poster Making Competitions (Theme: Nutrition and health on a Platter). The participants explained the benefits of balanced diet for a healthy life through these displays to the visiting students and teachers of Arya Girls Sen. Sec. School and some other Schools of Batala. On Sept. 9th, 2019 the winners of these contests were felicitated.

Baring Union Christian College Batala celebrated the marriage anniversary of Shri Guru Nanak Dev ji on 03-09-2019. On this occasion Officiating Principal Dr. Ashwani Kansra, staff & students of BUC and other eminent personalities of Batala participated in Ardas ceremony. After that Guru Ka Atut Langar has been served. All arrangements were made by students under the supervision of Mr. Sukhjinder Singh, Dr Jagvinder Kaur , Madam Ramandeep kaur and other staff members.

An Educational Trip to GNDU, & Sada Pind organised under the aegis of society for the promotion of Sciences on 02-09-2019.

 

An Educational Trip was organized on Sep. 2, 2019. 26 students of B.Sc(Med/N-med) visited the Deptt. Of Botanical and Environmental Sciences, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar. First of all, the students were taken to Botanical Garden in order to provide them significant information of the plant life. This was a huge garden spreading over an area of 10 hectares water body, Teak Plantation, Arboretum, Fern House, Hibiscus Garden and Herbal Garden were the main attraction. Students learnt about the difference between Monochlamydae, Polypetalae and Gamopetalae, Cycads and Monocots were also shown tothe students. Then we proceeded to Green House where various xerophytic plants were kept under controlled conditions. As per the requirements of the syllabus, the students of B.Sc (Med.) Sem-V were acquainted with tools and techniques of Tissue culture by visiting the Tissue Culture laboratory. In the end, the teachers-in-charge thanked Dr. M.s. Bhatti, Head, Deptt. of Botanical and Environmental Sciences, GNDU, Amritsar for making the necessary arrangements. In order to acquaint the students with the rich cultural heritage of Punjab, students were also taken to Sada Pind, Amritsar. There they enjoyed magic show, puppet show, rope show, cycle show, Bajigar show and gatka etc. and relished the typical Punjabi food including Saag and Makki di roti. The trip was definitely an awesome opportunity to learn about the intricacies Plant world and rich Punjabi culture simultaneously. Ms. Mandeep Bedi & Dr. Amita, Teachers-in-charges accompanied the students.

Freshers Party cum Declamation and poetry recitation Competition organized by Department of English 2-9-19

 

Fresher’s Party 2019:

Freshers’ party , the event, is an indication of union among the students. So, this beautiful event was organized by the students of the Post Graduate Department of English under the competent leadership of the officiating principal Dr. Ashwani Kansra and guidance of Mr. Pawan Kumar Sharma, Head of the department of English. Freshers’ party was held in the Conference Hall on 2nd September 2019. The purpose of the celebration was to make every student feel comfortable and connected as an integral part of the family of The Department of English. It manifested youth and enthusiasm at its best.
The occasion was graced with the presence of Mr. Pawan Kumar Sharma (HOD) and the other faculty members. The welcome party started with the opening prayer followed by welcome address by Mr. Pawan Kumar Sharma to formally welcome the freshers into the department.
Further, the program was advanced with the mind-blowing performances of dances and songs. Also a number of games were introduced to entertain all. Then the most awaited contest of Mr. and Ms. Fresher was held. It was really a challenging event because selection of Mr. and Ms.Fresher was based on three rounds including modeling, talent, and questioning round. All the events were artistically and beautifully presented. The participant were supported and encouraged by everyone as they performed on the stage. Amritpal Singh and Harpreet Kaur were declared as Mr. and Ms. Fresher. The result of this contest was announced by Mr. Pawan Kumar Sharma. (HOD)
At the end, motivational speeches were presented by Mr. Pawan Kumar Sharma (HOD) and Dr. B.K. Sharma. Around 60 students participated in this event and lunch followed the program. It was really a wonderful and interesting session.

Declamation and poetry recitation Competition:

On Monday 2nd September 2019, English Literary Society function was organized by the Post Graduate Department of English , BUCC Batala. It was held in the Conference Hall of the college. It was well organized under the able guidance of the Officiating Principal Dr. Ashwani Kansra and the supervision of the Head of the Department, Mr. Pawan Kumar Sharma and the convener of ELS, Dr. B.K.Sharma. The purpose of this function is to encourage literary activities so to see people being as comfortable with English language as they are with Hindi , Punjabi and other languages.
The function started sharp at 10 am with the opening prayer followed by encouraging words by Mr. Pawan Kumar Sharma to boost up the participants for the competitions. Two main contests Declamation and Poetry Recitation were organized in which around 15 students participated. In the contest of declamation, students presented their views enthusiastically and also performed well in the poetry recitation. The judgment of the both competitions was made by Mr. Pawan Kumar Sharma (HOD), Mrs. Kirandeep kaur and Ms. Amandeep kaur. In declamation, Kanwaljeet kaur from (MA sem-III) got first prize, Rupinder kaur( MA sem-III) second prize and Amritpal singh(MA- sem-I) got the third prize. In poetry recitation, Kanwaljit kaur got first, Sunil got second and Riganjeet kaur got the third prize.
At the end, prizes were distributed to the winners by Mr. Pawan Kumar Sharma (HOD), Dr. B.K.Sharma, Dr. Sukhdeep Ghuman, and Mrs. Savita along with the other faculty members. The function ended with the vote of the thanks by Dr. B.K.Sharma.

 

Motivational Talk on Capability Enhancement by Er. Sawinder Singh Gill, was Organized by Department of English on 30th August, 2019

 

Mr.Pawan Kumar head of the Post Graduate Department of English,BUCC Batala organised a motivational lecture under the supervision of Mr. AshwaniKansra Officiating Principal where Er. Sawinder Singh Gill, Chairman Sukhjinder Group of Institutes Gurdaspur, visited The Department on 30th August 2019 to address the students of MA English semester 1st and 3rd, and also the students having Elective English, where the female participants numbered as 29 and male 06, total 35. The Department takes initiative to motivate and inspire the students regarding academics and its key success. It also guides them about the importance and benefits of higher education. In this regard, the department always tries to conduct such sessions for the students to encourage them to attain success in their life.
Mr. Pawan Kumar , head of the department along with Mr. BK Sharma, Mrs Sukhdeep Ghuman , Mrs Savita and other faculty members escorted the honorable guest Er. Sawinder Singh to the department where he was welcomed and presented a bouquet. Then Mr. BK Sharma commenced the session by introducing the guest speaker to the students. Further, Mr. Pawan Kumar gave a brief introduction about the honorable guest’s achievements in life. After this, Er.Sawinder Singh started to address the audience with his valuable and motivational words. In which he emphasized on different success mantras and inspired the students to value their parents as well as gurus (teachers) in their lives. He focused on spirituality and religious approaches in life. In addition, he encouraged the students to have positive attitude and acquainted them with the importance of blessings in their lives. In his speech, he also mentioned that we should be true to our soul to eliminate all the problems from life. All over he presented quite interesting , knowledgeable, experience-based thoughts to the audience. In the end he told the students about how the Sukhjindra Group of Institutes Gurdaspur came into existence. The students were highly delighted as the session was full of fun, energy and learning. At last Mr. BK Sharma and Mrs Sukhdeep Ghuman thanked Er. Sawinder Singh Gill for his valuable time and motivational words.

 

Poster making cum presentation Competition was organized By Department of Computer Science and IT on 30-08-2019

 

This event was organized on 30.08.2019 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm under the supervision of Ms. Mandeep Kaur Sandhu, Assistant Professor, Department of CS & IT. The themes were “Digital India” and “Go-green environment”. In the start of event, various rules and regulations were instructed to participants by the event in-charge. Thirteen participants from various UG & PG classes of Cs & IT participated in this event.

LIVE Telecast of Fit India Movement organized by NSS & Computer Department on 29-08-2019

 

On 29the August 2019 at 10.00 am the students of NSS and NCC units of the College attended the live telecast session of Fit India Movement- launched bythe H'ble PM Sh. Narinder Modi Ji on National Sports Day. In all, 128 students along with 20 teachers attended the live session. While addressing the nation on this occasion from Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium, New Delhi.The PM Modi highlighted the purpose and significance of this initiative being takenby the government and emphasized that let each one of us took pledge to keep oneself healthy, which in turn will make healthy their family, society and above all, a healthy nation. He said that countries like China, Germany & Australia have already started such fitness movements and have laid a goal to make their countries a completely healthy nation by 2030. He expressed concern over increasing number of children and youth of the country suffering from ailments like diabetics, hypertension and others. He gave the slogan of "Fit India, Hit India". At the end of the session, 'Dr. Ashwani Kansra', Officiating Principal of the college performed a pledge ceremony whereby he asked every student & teacher to take a pledge to be fit and healthy in their life. Present on the occasion were Mr. Narinder Singh (HOD of Comp. Sci.), Mr. Harprabdeep Singh, Mr. Jagdip Singh, Ms. Mandeep K. Sandhu, Mr. Ashwani Kumar, Ms. Alka Bamotra, Ms Jatinder Kaur(Punjabi Department) and other staff of computer science department.

 

Legal Awareness Programme organized by Legal Literacy Cell on 28-08-2019

 

On 28 august 2019, a Legal Awareness Programme was organized by Legal Literacy Cell, Baring Union Christian College, in the Premises of the College under the guidance of Principal (Officiating)Dr. Ashwani Kansra, in collaboration with District Legal Services Authority, Gurdaspur. The Convener of this programme was Dr. Ritu Pandhi Nayyar (Assistant Professor, Economics). Advocate Gurlal Singh Pannu was the Speaker and Chief Guest, S. Ranjodh Singh Bal, Paralegal Volunteer was the Guest of Honour of this programme.The programme was started with the welcome of the Chief Guest, Guest of Honour, Officiating Principal Dr. Ashwani Kansra, Faculty Members and Students by Dr. Ritu Pandhi Nayyar. She thrown a light on the legal rights in her introductory words. Further this information was enhancedand elaborated by Dr. Ashwani Kansra who informed the students about the purpose and Objectives of the Legal Awareness Programme.The Speaker and the Chief Guest of the Programme Advocate Gurlal Singh Pannu began his speech addressing the audience about The Constitution, Fundamental Rights and Directive Principles(article 39). He apprised that the free legal services are under Directive Principles of the State Government. He added that legal services mean that nobody will segregate from legal protection on the basis of discrimination and dearth of money. There is provision of free legal services for everyone at Tehsil, District, State and National level. He asserted that SC/ST /women/ a common man in low income group can have the facility of costless legal aid, and services of an advocate whose fee will be paid by District Legal Office. Forwarding in his speech he educated the students about the procedure - How to get Free Legal Service under District Legal Services Authority. Firstly, he notified that there are Front Offices in Batala and Gurdaspur. In Gurdaspur there is headquarter with the senior officer - A permanent advocate from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the service of people. A person who wants legal aid can attain it by writing a letter to front office. He can discuss his problem with front officer. If front officer feels the case is authentic, refers it. Secondly, he conveyed that if advocate does not work properly, one can complaint against him to district and session judge. Thirdly, he told everyone that there are special courts for druggists. Fourth, Legal Service Advocate Penal renews every year to make legal services transparent and resulting. Fifth, there are Paralegal Volunteers at District Legal Office who provide legal assistance for the access of marginalized communities to the Justice System. Some queries by students and faculty members asked, which were answered by Speaker in detail.
At the end of the programme, Dr. Ashwani Kansra, Principal (Officiating), Dr. Ritu Pandhi Nayyar, Convener of the programme, Prof. Neeraj Kumar Sharma, Prof. Rajive Mcmullen, Dr. Amita, Dr.Lalit, honoured the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour by giving mementoes. A formal Vote ofThanks was delivered by Prof. Neeraj Kumar Sharma. In his final words he pointed that legal awareness is must for democracy and Paralegal Volunteers Scheme is very fruitful for the students.

 

Poster Presentation Competition organised by Department of Physics on 22-08-2019

 

The Department of Physics, Baring Union Christian College, Batala organized a poster presentation competition on August 22, 2019 in relation to the celebration of 75 years (Platinum Jubilee) of its establishment. Students prepared posters on various topics such as: (i) Launch of Chandrayan-2 (ii) Power generation by nuclear power plants(iii) Latest discoveries in Physics (iv) Colonizing the red planet(Mars) (v) Journey of Voyager satellites (vi) Nanotechnology etc. There were 29 participants in total from semesters I, II and III of B. Sc. (Non. Med. & Comp. Sci.). All the students gave relevant explanation of posters presented by them. The judges Prof. L. P. Singh (Dept. of Mathematics), Dr. Amita (Dept. of Chemistry) and Asst. Prof. Mrs. Mandeep Bedi (Dept. of Botany) appreciated the efforts of the students in making the posters. In order to encourage the participants, first, second and third winners were chosen by selecting two participants in each category. Dr. Mridula Dogra (HOD, Department of Physics), Dr. Manpreet Singh (Department of Physics) and Assistant Prof. Pawanbir Singh (Department of Physics) organized this event to inculcate interest in students towards new areas of Physics. Overall, the event was successful in creating broader interest in physics among students.

 

Inter Society Fine Arts Competition organized by Department of Commerce on 21-08-2019

 

‘Art connects what words cannot’ keeping the same ideas at the forefront, students of Baring Union Christian College participated in the inter-society Fine Arts Competition organized by deptt. Of Commerce held on 21st August, 2019. The competition was organized under the able guidance of Dr. Ashwani Kansra, Officiating Principal & Head, department of commerce and Dr. Jagvinder Kaur of same department. The program was co-ordinated by Prof. Alka Sekhri, Prof. Deepika Kansra and Prof. Anupreet Kaur of Commerce department. Main events conducted were Cartooning , Rangoli, Poster making, Painting and Collage making. Charanjit Singh (BCA Sem 1) Poster making competition, Nandini (B.com Sem-I) Rangoli competition, Jasleen Kaur (Bsc Sem –I) Collage making competition bagged 1st position respectively. During the competition youth coordinator Prof. Sukhjinder Singh Bath, Dr. Amita, Prof. Mandeep Kaur, Prof. Harpreet, Prof. Anjali, Prof. Komalpreet , Prof . Alka Bamotra, Prof. Aru Malhotra, Prof. Amanpreet marked the gracious presence. Mr. Naveen an expert from R.D Khosla was appointed as judge for the fine arts competition and trophies along with certificates of participation were distributed to the winners.

 

Let's Discover Our Library” An Event organised by Library and Department of English on 15-08-2019

 

As we know that library is the key source of knowledge. In this regard, for the effective use of library by the students and to acquaint them with the rules and policies of library as well as its importance , orientation progaram is must. So this program was organised with a collaborative effort by The Post Graduate department of English and The Department of Dr. Ram Singh Library under the supervision of Dr. Ashwani Kansra Officiating Principal . This program was held on 17th August 2019 at Dr.Paul L. Love section in the Library of BUCC Batala with the guidance of Mr. Pawan Kumar head of thePG department of English and Mrs Ranjna ,a librarian. This session was mainly to address the students of MA English in which participants from semester I and iii where female counted as 30 and male 6 total 36.
The prpgram was preceded by Mrs Kirandeep Kaur where she introduced the speaker Mrs Ranjna to the students. Firstly, Mrs Ranjna welcomes all the students and teachers there. Secondly , she educated students about the resources , services , facilities etc. offered by the library and its use policies. In addition, Mr. Joel.G.Ram informed the students about the use and importance of library. By making the great effort, library faculty enabled to impart fruitful information about the ability to locate, identify, evaluate, use and interpret information effectively. They also made students aware about the use of e-resources in the library and targeted on maintaining discipline in the library .
To facilitate the effective use of library resources and services, students were offered to participate in a “Book Hunt Competition” in the same program it was organised by the department of library in which four groups were participated a,b,c, d, respectively, out of those three groups got positions first, second, and third. Kawaljit Kaur, a student from MA English semester-iii also made an effort to motivate the other students for the effective use of library and its significance.the orientation program was closed with a thanking note by Mr. Pawan Kumar.(HOD).

 

Talent Hunt 2019-20 was organized by Department of Commerce on 10-08-2019

 

On 10th August, 2019, a Talent Hunt Programme was organized by Commerce Department under the able guidance of Dr.Ashwani Kansra, officiating Principal & Head, department of Commerce and Dr. Jagvinder Cheema of same department. The aim of the programme was to find the inner abilities of the students and to motivate them to participate in different co-curricular activities like singing, dancing, poetry etc. Total 23 students took part in the various competitions organized for the day. Ms. Aru Malhotra was the coordinator of this program, and all the other members of the staff Ms. Alka Sekhri, Ms. Anjali, Ms. Harpreet kaur, Ms.Komalpreet Kaur, Ms. Deepika , Ms.Anupreet Kaur also took active part in it and motivated the students.. Dr. Jagvinder Cheema thanked all the participants and prize winner for making the programme successful and also motivated them to keep participating in such programmes in the coming days also as such activities will help in developing their personality. 73rd Independence Day Celebration On 15/08/19

 

With the directions of Principal Prof.(Dr.) Edward Masih and BUCC Management, BUC College Batala celebrated 73rd Independence Day. The morning began with the NCC parade then Customary Flag Hoisting by the officiating Principal of the College, Dr. Ashwani Kansra and other former teachers of the college, followed by National Anthem. Teachers of different departments, Non Teaching staff and other distinguished guests graced the celebration with their benign presence. Students sung patriotic songs, recited poem and speeches related to Indian Independence Day. The importance of our National Anthem "Jana Gana Mana" was also explained through the speeches. Dr Kansra addressed the gathering and explained slogans used by different freedom fighters and Martyrs. He congratulated the students and teachers for Platinum Jubilee (75th year of establishment) of BUC College. He said that we have started the celebration of Platinum Jubilee with this Independence Day celebration function. Dr B.K Sharma (English Department) and Dr Jagvinder Kaur (Commerce Department) hosted the program. Dr. Amita (Chemistry Department) was the organiser of the programme. NCC Cadets sung the NCC Song. Dr Naresh Kumar, NCC In charge presented the Vote of Thanks. This was followed by a tea party and sweets were distributed among the staff members and students.

PG Department of Punjabi under the competent guidance of Principal Prof.(Dr) Edward Masih and HoD Prof. Sukhjinder Singh Bath celebrated the Birthday of the great poet Shiv Kumar Batalvi Ji. Prof. Bath discussed the many of the Batalvi's poems with students of the department on this occasion.

 

The Orientation Programme for the session 2019-20 was organized on 15.07.2019

 

On July 15th, 2019, an orientation programme was organized for new students of Baring College under the able guidance of the Principal, Dr. Edward Masih. Dr. Rajni Bala from department of Sociology was the Coordinator and Prof. Neeraj Kumar Sharma was the Co-Coordinator of the Programme. The purpose of the event was to provide information to the new comers about all the curricular and co-curricular activities taking place on the campus. The programme started with the Prayer to the almighty which was led by Dr. David Teja. Office Superintendent Mr. Robin Kumar gave a detailed knowledge about all the rules and deadlines set by Guru Nanak Dev University for students. Prof. Neeraj Kumar Sharma, Convener of Discipline Committee gave instructions to students for maintaining discipline in the college. It was followed by presentations made by HODs of Post graduate departments, Dr. Ashwani Kansra from department of Commerce, Prof. Pawan Kumar from department of English and Prof. Narinder Singh from department of Computer Science and IT. Prof. Sukhjinder Singh Bath introduced Youth club activities being the coordinator of the Club. Dr. Naresh Kumar made presentation based on different events organized by N.C.C Unit of the college and encouraged students to join N.C.C. Prof. Harprabhdeep Singh, Convener of N.S.S Programme also motivated students to take part in the various activities of the unit. Mrs. Ranjana, Librarian introduced students to different facilities provided by the library of the college especially book bank facility. Dr. Rajni Bala made her presentation on different activities organized by women Cell of the college during last few years and also encouraged the girl students to participate in such activities. At last Prof. Edward Mash, Principal of the college thanked all the students and teachers and wished good luck to all for the new session. He assured the students that they will get the best education in this college.

A visit to Old Age Home was organized by department of Sociology on March 26, 2019

 

A visit to Old Age Home was organized by department of Sociology on March 26, 2019 under the guidance of Dr. Rajni Bala HoD department of Sociology. In the morning, 46 students with teacher-in-charge started from the college as a procession. Students were holdings sweets and gifts to offer to the inmates of Old Age Home, Batala. On reaching the spot, students directly went to the rooms of senior citizens and shared views with them. Students were highly impressed to listen to the stories of old people. Students served them lunch after some time and after lunch they said goodbye to the inmates of the Old Age Home, Batala. On returning back to college students had mixed emotions. On one hand they were happy to meet them and on the other hand they were confused why there is a need of Old Age Homes in India, as the cultural heritage of India is based on love, sympathy and service. The head of the department assured the students that these types of activities will be organized in future also.

An extension lecture on ‘Environmental Carcinogens’ was organized by Society for the Promotion on Sciences on March 23, 2019

 

Under the guidance of Principal Prof.(Dr.) Edward Masih and the Conversion ship of Mrs.Mandeep Bedi and Dr.Amita an extension lecture on ‘Environmental Carcinogens’ was organized by Society for the Promotion on Sciences on March 23, 2019.The resource Person Dr.Jatinder Kaur, Deptt of Botanical and Environmental Sciences , Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar, discussed at length about various heavy metals like Arsenic, lead, Manganese, Zinc and Mercury etc. which may cause cancer. The Niger Delta, the Pacific patch and various others polluted water bodies were shown to sensitize the young minds towards the need to save this precious resource of nature. She also suggests some remedial measures like Bio sorption, remediation to tackle the menace of environmental carcigogens . These complex concepts were explained in a very lucid manner. The lecture was highly informative and interesting. On this occasion Principal Dr. Edward Masih, while addressing the gathering of young scholars said that the earth is groaning for its liberation. Man himself is responsible for this sorrow state of affairs, It is high time that he must take serious note of the situation and save the mother earth. The lecture was attended by Dr. David Teja, Mr Robin, Dr JP Singh, Dr Anju Puri, Mrs Anu, Dr Isha, Mr Manav Sharma and the members of the Science Society

 

Five Day Workshop on “Preventive Conservation of Manuscripts” March 15 to 19, 2019, was organized by BARING UNION CHRISTIAN COLLEGE Batala with the collaboration of NATIONAL MISSION FOR MANUSCRIPTS

 

Day I

Five day workshop on ‘Preventive conservation of Manuscripts’ was organized by Baring Union Christian College, Batala, in association with and sponsored by National Mission for Manuscripts,(Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts), New Delhi, from 15th to 19th March 2019, which was of its first kind in Punjab by Ministry of India. Thirty three participants attended the workshop from different parts of India i.e. Chandigarh, Jammu, Delhi, Amritsar, Jalandhar, Abohar etc. All the participants attended enthusiastically and presented papers based on a variety of manuscripts based studies.

The purpose of the workshop was to bring together scholarsfrom a variety of areas across the country to promote discussion on cross cutting issues of manuscripts’ preservation and conservation, to share information and approaches to key problems and foster the development of new sources.

The inauguration of workshop began with prayer by Dr. Joel G Ram, followed by lightning of lamp by Dr. SP Singh, former Director National Museum, Dr. H.S Chopra, former University Librarian (GNDU), Prof. (Dr.) Edward Masih, Principal BUC College, Batala, Ms. RanjanaBharti, Librarian BUC College. Stage was conducted by Dr. Amita, Assistant Professor,Deptt of Chemistry and Dr. Naresh Kumar, Assistant Professor, Deptt of Punjabi. Prof. Edward Masih welcomed Dr. Singh, Dr. Chopra by presenting bouquet of flowers. Dr. S.P. Singh enlightened the audience with his thoughts. Keynote address was given by Dr. Chopra. He highlighted the importance of preservation, conservation and restoration of manuscripts.

1 A formal 'Vote of Thanks' was proposed by Principal Dr. Edward .Dr.Chopra in his presentation on “Importance and Care of Manuscriptsof Punjab with special reference to Punjabi manuscripts”also highlighted the availability of manuscripts in Punjab from ancient era to modern era.

Another session was addressed by Dr. Singh on the topic ‘Integrated approaches to conservation with special reference of preventive conservation’. Dr. SP Singh discussed about various issues of preventive and curative conservation. Dr.JatinderSingh Gill, Assistant Librarian , (GNDU), Amritsar, discussed in another session on the topic of 'Familiarization of Manuscripts'. He highlighted different aspects of manuscripts.
At the end of first day session, there was a group discussion and feedback was taken from the participants.

Day II

The Second Day session of workshop was started with visits to different places. Visit to Restoration lab of GaribNiwas Charitable Trust, Umarpura, Batala, where restoration of handwritten copy of Shri Guru Granth Sahib is on process. Mr. Mohammad Niyazinush is looking after the restoration work of that lab. This lab is designed according to religious decorum of Sikhism to maintain the sanctity of Holy Granth.

Mr. Niyazinush and Dr. Singh described about the restoration work to all the participants. They said that this work had been started for last two years and approximately would take another two years to complete. They showed the restored folios of Sh. Guru Granth Sahib and the material used for it to all theparticipants. Dr. Singh said that NMM was providing the requisite technical support for this restoration work.

Then visit to Qadian Town, titled as Ahmadiyya Muslim Community India was an 2

enriching experience for all the delegates. They had seen DarulZiafat, Holy QuranExhibition in NooruddinLibrary, DarulMasih. They said that DarulMasih was house of MirzaGhulam Ahmad, founder of Ahmadiyya community and discussed with participants about Ahmadiyya movement and their old documents. They told that every year they organized a conferencein which approximately one lac people across the world took participation. “Motto of their mission is Love for all, Hatred for none.’’ They believe in universal peace and protection of women rights as “ In all parts of the world, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community seeks to promote peace, and according with the teachings of Islam ,raise its voice against these brutalities.’’

Day III

The day three session started with the lecture of Dr. SP Singh on ‘Conservation of Historic Shri Guru Granth Sahib's Bir and Manuscript’. He told that Bir of Shri Guru Granth Sahib was conserved and preserved with preventive conservation.

Another lecture was given by Dr. B.S. Naveen from Jammu on the topic " Pest Management and Care of Manuscript" Dr. B.S. Naveen talked about various techniques to cure and control pests and how to save manuscripts from termites.

Dr. KulvirKaur, Assistant Librarian, GNDU, Amritsar, delivered a lecture on ‘Factors of Deteriorations of Manuscripts’ in another session. She discussed about the deterioration factors with the references to preventive measures.

Dr. B.S. Naveen, Dr. Jatinder Singh Gill, Mr. AmitaRana, Mr. Pooran Chandra, Mr. Mithlesh Kumar and Dr. KulvirKaur werehonored with shawls and momentous by Dr. H.S Chopra and Dr. SP Singh, proceededby a lecture by Mr. PooranChandra on “Documentation of Manuscripts".

Chandrawere given to the participants in Dr. Ram SinghLibrary, BUC College, Batala. During this trainingforms on “Condition Report of Manuscript” were filled by all the delegates, bore information about condition, preservation and conservation of books. Trainers provided information about various stationery items that could be used to protect the manuscripts and books like clear bags, red clothe, tissue papers and silk paper etc.

Further, they talked about the methods for preventive conservation such as fumigation,cleaned dust, dirt, termite mud, binding cover and fungus,kept fungicidal/insecticidal paper in Mss., in mount board box, sprayed insecticide in the almirah, placed insecticidal paper on surface of each self, kept naphthalene cubes in the almirah etc.

They also taught the participants - how to grade a book by looking on its condition. For instance, use to describe the condition of deterioration ‘A’ for very little damage or without damage, ‘B’ for medium damage and ‘C’ for highly deteriorated condition.

Day IV

On day fourth,Mr. Barinderjit Singh and Mr. Sarabjit Singh were honored by Dr. H.S Chopra and Dr. SP Singh with momentous. The work of this day was started again with practical training which was given by Mr. Pooran, Mr. Mithleshand Mr. Niyazinush to the participants in BUCC Library.

In this training, they discussed with participants about various methods to preserve the manuscripts and rare books from dampness, termites and other insects. We should repair torn andmissing portion, arrange folios before it lost, flatten folded corners to keep the manuscripts and books in good condition. They said that there should be circulation of air at the place of preservation to avoid the onset of fungus. Kitchen spices like cloves, cardamom, turmeric etc. could also be used to 4

repel the insects. But, the use of the same spice should not befor more than six months as it made the insects immune to it. After practical training, a lecture was delivered by Mr. Barinderjit Singh and Mr. Sarabjit Singh on the topic “Documentation includingDigitalization” in form of PPT in ConferenceHall of the College. In their PPT they presented methods to make manuscripts and rare books digital.

Day V

On day fifth, Dr. Chopra presented his views regarding origin and development of writing materials in India and the rest of the world. He also emphasized importance of preserving our cultural heritage.

Rt. Rev. Bishop Dr. P.K.Samantaroy, Chairperson, BUCCA was the chief guest and Dr. Derrick Engles, Secretory; BUCCA was the guest of honor. Dr. P.K.Samantaroyaddressed the audience by saying that he was also the part of one of these workshops in the past. He loved to participate in such workshops. He said that he would definitely be a part of such workshops in the future again. Further, He said that we should make efforts to preserve these manuscripts and rare books. He stressed that they were essence of our history. If they had been destroyed, it would have a great loss for us. For the awareness of people and preservation of manuscripts these workshops must be organized again and again.

After this, Dr. Singh and Dr. Chopra honored Dr.Samantaroy and Dr. Derrick with shawls and momentous. Certificate to participants were distributed by all the dignitaries. Ms. ParminderKaur, Librarian, from Chandigarh and Mr. Neerajkumar Sharma, Asst. Prof., BUCC, Batala, shared their views about workshop.

Principal BUCC appreciated the teaching and Non-teaching Staff with appreciation 5

awards who had done all the work of this workshop with full dedication and enthusiasm. Asst. Prof. Neha from Deptt of English prepared report of the workshop.

At closing, Principal BUCC Dr. Edward thanked all the participants and membersto make this workshop successful.Feedback was taken from all the participants. They gave their positive remarks and workshop ended on a positive note.

It was inaugurated by the Prof.(Dr.) Edward Masih, Principal of BUC college, Batala. He was the chief guest of the function. Mr H.L Peter, Principal Baring School was the guest of honor. Mr. Harprabdeep Singh, In-charge of society made all arrangement for organizing such a wonderful function under the supervision of Mr. Narinder Singh, Head of Department of Computer Science and IT and with the cooperation of all the staff members of Computer Department including Mr. Jagdeep Singh, Ms. Mandeep Kaur Sandhu, Mr. Ashwani Kumar, Ms. Suman Maini, Ms. Alka Bamotra, Ms. Amanjot Kaur, Ms. Sonam, Ms Rimpi Bhandari, Ms Satinder Kaur, Ms Jagdeep Kaur, Ms. Palwinder Kaur & Ms. Navjot Kumari. Celebration of International Women’s Day on March 8th, 2019

 

On March 8th, 2019, Women Cell of BUC College Batala celebrated International Women Day under the guidance of Principal Dr. Edward Masih and Dr. Rajni Bala, Convener Women Cell. Girls of the college showed their talent by performing choreography, Skit, Drama on women issues. Many competitions for girls were organized on this day as Singing, Painting /Sketching, Rangoli, Extempore and Poetry Recitation. The members of Women Cell Prof. Parminder Kaur, Prof. Mandeep Bedi, Dr. Jagvinder Kaur, Dr. Amita, Prof. Anu, Dr. Anju Puri, Prof. Savita, and Prof. Mandeep Sandhu played a great role in organizing different activities. They also acted as judges for the same. The Convener of the programme gave a detailed information regarding activities organized by Women Cell throughout the year. She appreciated the girls for raising different important issues relating women in contemporary society through Poetry, Singing, Skit, Drama, Rangoli, Painting / Sketching and choreography. The students of department of sociology performed “Gidha” to give their wishes on International Women’s Day. Principal Prof(Dr.) Edward Masih congratulated the members of Women Cell for taking up this initiative for sensitizing and motivating college girls. He also gave his best wishes to all the female workers of the college on International Women Day and assured that college administration will keep making efforts for Women Empowerment.

 

Workshop on “Yoga for Healthy Life” organised by Women cell on March 7th, 2019

 

On March 7th, 2019, the Women Cell of BUC College Batala organized a workshop on “Yoga For Healthy Life” for girls under the guidance of Principal Dr. Edward Masih and Dr. Rajni Bala, Convener of Women Cell. Prof. Parminderjit Kaur, the resource person of the programme discussed the importance of Yoga in one’s life. She guided the girls about different yogic exercises specially breathing exercises, Surya Namaskar, Anuloma-Viloma etc. She explained how they can achieve self control through Yoga and get success in their life. At the end of the workshop Convener thanked the resource person for the wonderful session. She explained that this workshop is the part of the celebration of International Women’s Day. She motivated the girls to take part in the celebration of International Women’s Day with full zeal and enthusiasm on March, 8th also. Prof. Mandeep Bedi, Dr. Jagvinder Kaur, Dr. Amita, Prof. Anu, Dr. Anju Puri, Prof. Savita, and Prof. Mandeep Sandhu helped in organizing this workshop and their presence motivated the girls to do their best in life.

 

Guest Lecture on the topic of “BIG DATA” on 05 March 2019 organised by PG Department of Computer Science and IT.

 

With the Permission and competent guidance of Principal Prof. (Dr.) Edward Masih, one day seminar (Guest Lecture) was organized by Ms. Mandeep Sandhu, Assistant Professor, PG Department of Computer Science and IT under the Supervision of Mr. Narinder Singh, HoD of Computer Science. Function was started at 10:00 am. The welcome speech was delivered by Prof. Mandeep Sandhu. Resource person of the day was Dr. Kuljit Kaur, Associate Professor, Department of Computer science and Engineering, GNDU, Amritsar. Prof. Narinder Singh formally welcomed the guest. Dr Kuljit Kaur Delivered her Lecture on BIG DATA. The lecture was very fruitful for the students. Principal Prof. (Dr.) Edward Masih gave the token of gratitude to the resource person. All the staff members of department of computer science and almost 120 students attended the lecture.

 

Baring Science Fest - 2019 was organized by Society for promotion of sciences on 02 March, 2019.

 

Under the competent guidance of Principal Professor(Dr.) Edward Masih and supervision of staff advisors, Mrs Mandeep Bedi and Dr Amita, Society for promotion of Sciences organised Baring science fest on March 02, 2019. The event saw participation from eight colleges across the region. A total of 92 students participated in the range of events which includes working and still Science Model Exhibition, Scientific Rangoli, Scientific Drama and postal Presentation. All the events centred around the topic related to the scientific innovations and their impact on society. Awards and accolades were given to the winners of various events. First prize for poster presentation was bagged by Shanti Devi Arya Mahila College, Dinanagar who expressed their view on Digital Detoxification. In Scientific Rangoli host college bagged the first position. First prize for Scientific Drama went to SSM college, Dinanagar. Baring College Batala got first prize for their working Model Exhibit on Sewage Treatment Plant. Guru Nanak College, Batala won the first prize in category of still models for their exhibit on ‘Sustainable Use of Resources’. Overall it was a wonderful efforts that provided a unique opportunity to the students of various colleges to interact with each other and police their skills.

 

Annual Convocation for the Session 2017-18 was held on 27-02-2019

 

Annual Convocation of BUC College Batala for session 2017-18 was held on February 27, 2019 in the College Hall in the presence of distinguished gathering including parents, teachers, alumni and the persons from electronic and print media. Hon'ble Chairman of BUCCA & Bishop, Diocese of Amritsar (CNI), and The Most Rev (Dr.) Pardeep Kumar Samanta Roy was the Chief Guest of the Day. Presence of Dr Derick Engles, Secretary BUCCA and other dignitary from Diocese of Amritsar further graced the occasion. In his convocation address Dr. P K SamantaRoy conveyed his greetings to the students and their parents and expressed the need to give back to society and share the knowledge obtained by the students for the betterment of society. He suggested the students to cop up with the need of industry. More than 350 students were conferred degrees on this occasion. All the staff members were also present in this well organized programme. In his thanks-giving speech, Prof. (Dr.) Edward Masih, Principal BUCC, conveyed his good wishes for the bright future career of the outgoing students and advised them to keep themselves updated with the ever-changing technology and growing needs of the economy.

To develop students' logical, ethical, literary /aesthetics faculties, an Annual Literary & Cultural Function Agaaz -2019 was organised under the guidance of Prof. Neeraj Kumar Sharma (In-charge, Dept. of Philosophy) by Association of Philosophical Thinkers (APT) organized on Feb. 22, 2019, in the Conference Hall of BUCC Batala Prof. (Dr) Edward Masih (Principal, BUCC) were chief guest . Various literary competitions were organized for APT members of BUCC including:-

Blood donation camp organized by Red Ribbon Club on 13/2/2019

 

Red Ribbon Club of BUC College Batala organised a Blood donation camp on 13/2/2019 under the supervision of Dr. Rajni Bala, Convener of Red Ribbon Club and under the competent guidance of Principal, Prof.(Dr.) Edward Masih. This camp was organized in collaboration with Civil Hospital Gurdaspur and Ajaz Chander shekher blood sewa society Batala. 60 students of the college donated blood and special enthusiasm was seen among girls to donate the blood. Principal appreciated convener and members of the club who worked hard for this noble cause among them were Dr Devid Teja, Dr Lalit Kumar, Ms. Mandeep Bedi, Ms. Anu, Dr. Sushma Sharma and Mr. Rajive Mcmullen. Mr. Harprabdeep Singh and Mr. Ashwani Kumar from Computer science department took the lead to motivate the students by donating blood in the camp.

Red Ribbon Club of BUC College Batala organised a seminar on "Awareness of blood donation" on 12/02/2019 under the supervision of Dr. Rajni Bala, Convener of Red Ribbon Club and under the competent guidance of Principal, Prof.(Dr.) Edward Masih. The seminar was organized in collaboration with  Ajaz Chander shekher blood sewa society Batala. Principal delivered his speech and motivated the students to take part in blood donation camp. On this occasion the members of the club, Dr Devid Teja, Dr Lalit Kumar, Ms. Mandeep Bedi, Ms. Anu, Dr. Sushma Sharma, Mr. Rajive Mcmullenand and Mr. Ashwani Kumar were present.

 

A Cultural Festival was organized by Department of commerce on 09-02-2019.

 

The department of commerce of the college celebrated Jashan-e-comm:- A cultural festival, with great pomp and show on February 9th 2019(Saturday) in the open Air Theatre of the college in the presence of H’ble Chief Guest Prof. (Dr.) Edward Masih, Principal. Mr. H.L Peter, Principal Baring School, Dr. Ashwani Kansra (HoD of the commerce department), Dr. Jagvinder Kaur(Senior faculty), Prof. Sukhjnder Singh, Prof. Aru Malhotra(Co-Ordinator) and many others.
To start with Dr. Edward Masih lighted the inaugural lamp for organizing this festival. He future elaborated that such programmes not only help to develop the personality of the students but also give the extra edge at various phases of life.
On this occasion Dr. Jagvinder Kaur Cheema welcomed the chief guest and present distinguished audience including teacher from other departments.
Students showcased their talent through various cultural items especially a Punjabi play tiled “ Gouhar-e-Punjabi” highlighting the need to protect our “ Maa Boli- Punjabi” which is losing its existing under the growing influence of westernization and increasing madness among today’s youth to go abroad.
At last Dr. Kansra thanked everyone present on the occasion and distributed momentums to the participants of the events.

Republic Day Celebration (26-01-2019)

 

On 26th January, 1950 the constitution of India came into force and the country became a republic. To mark this event, Republic day was celebrated at B.U.C College, Batala with great reverence. The day was begun with hoisting of flag by Prof.(Dr.) Edward Masih, Principal of the college. The students and NCC cadets salute the National Flag and pledged themselves to uphold the honour and integrity of India. Seminar held by Career Launchers, Amritsar on Career Guidance and Counseling on 12-10-2018. A team of professionals from Career Launchers, Amritsar held a seminar on Career Guidance and Counseling for the final year students of all the streams (commerce, science, computers and arts) on 12-10-2018 at 12:15 p.m in room no Physics-4. A total number of 89 students attended this programme and actively interacted with them. They especially acquainted the students with present job scenarios in market and how they could crack the competitive examination with special focus on banking examination of public sector Banks. They also took a written test of students to check their level of knowledge and reasoning skills so as to guide them in the selection of their career. The session ended with a vote of thanks to all the members of visiting team by Dr. Ashwani Kansra (co-ordinator) and Mr. Harprabhdeep Singh (co-coordinator) of placement cell of the college.

Seminar on Death Penalty was organized by Student Christian Movement of India on 10-09-2018 under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Edward Masih and SCM staff advisor Prof. Manav Sharma,a seminar on "Death Penalty" was organized at Baring Union Christian College Batala. The programme was started with the prayer. Prof. Manav welcomed the guests. He also described in brief that death penalty is very rare in India. This capital punishment may reduce the crime rate in India. Principal Prof. (Dr.) Edward Masih said that when we hear about capital punishment our heart tremble and if a man acts like an animal and does very inhuman deeds then capital punishment will be there. On this occasion Daniel Das from BUCCA, Madam Davinder, Dr. Naresh were present.

Teacher's Day Celebrations on 05-09-2018

Teacher's Day Celebrations at BUC College Batala. On this Special Day a warm celebration is arranged on the directions of Principal Prof.(Dr.) Edward Masih. Ms. Ramandeep Kaur handled the comparing of the function. Mr Ashwani Kumar presented his views and also discussed the brief history behind the teacher's day celebrations. Principal Sir delivered his valuable words specially for teachers. He also motivated the teachers by quoting the example of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, the former President of India. Ms Alka Sekhri, Ms. Daljit Kaur, Mr. Manav and other teachers also presented their views. Most of the teachers were present in the function.The function was ended with a lovely refreshment. BUC College Batala celebrated nation's 72nd Independence Day with great respect and enthusiasm. The celebration begun with parade by NCC cadets of college.The Ceremony of unfurling the National Flag in the college is done by Principal Prof.(Dr.) Edward Masih. Then all sang our National Anthem. Some of the students present their patriotic poems, speeches and songs. Principal Sir presented his valuable views and direct the youth to enjoy the independence with the understanding of their duties towards Nation. Ms. Ramandep Kaur handled the show very well and Dr Naresh Kumar presents the vote of thanks. After the function all enjoyed the refreshment arranged by college.

     
     
     

Under the Competent guidance of Principal Prof.(Dr.) Edward Masih and under the supervision of Mr. Sukhjinder Singh Bath, Youth Coordinator, Youth Club of BUC College Batala Celebrated Teeyian Festival(Teej ) on 11 August 2018. These types of Celebration of traditional festival in colleges help students to understand their culture and bond with their roots.On this occasion students and teachers were seen in colourful traditional Punjabi attire. The swings were decorated beautifully and girls enjoyed ‘peenghan’. Cultural programmes like folk singing ‘Gidha’ etc also performed in the college. Dr. Satinderjit Kaur Nijjar and Dr SS Nijjar are also marked their presence in the festival.

The magazine of BUC College Batala,Deep shikha 2017-18 was released by Mr. Sanjay Rastogy, Principal Commissionor, Income Tax, Amritsar in the conference hall of the college on August 3, 2018. Prof.(Dr.) Edward Masih, Principal of the college welcomed him for his visiting the campus and delivering his profound lecture to the faculty and students. Dr.B K Sharma, editor- in - Chief of Deepshikha underlined the significance of writing for students and teachers and inbibing literary sensitivity. Mr.Rahul Dhawan Additional Commissionor, Income Tax and Mr. Harmesh Garg ITO Batala also graced the function. Mr. Danial B.Das, member,BUCCA gave his observations and acknowledged the hard work of the editorial board under the able guidance of Principal Dr.Edward Masih. Dr. Ashwani Kansara, Prof. Pawan Sharma and Prof.Sukhjinder S.Bath also expressed their valuable ideas. A large number of college staff members and students were present in the conference hall. The guests also visited and appreciated the library which is one of the halmarks of the college.

     
     

BUC College Batala Organized an Orientation Programme (Session 2018-19) for the welcome of new students on 16.07.2018. The students were informed about various clubs and societies of the college and code of conduct to be followed on the college campus. They were also acquainted with the different staff members of the college. On this occasion college has also purchased new Bus for students.

     
     
     

International Yoga Day Celebrated at B.U.C College Batala on June 21, 2018 under the competent guidance of Principal Prof.(Dr.) Edward Masih and with association with 22 Battalion NCC.
